Conventional yarns with an "S-Twist" lead to split stitches. Why?

How to stop split stitches

Every time you yarn over, you produce a clockwise motion around the axis of the working yarn. The counterclockwise ply of conventional S-Twist yarns goes under an inverse twist during the YO and that yarn will slowly begin to de-ply (strands separate). This is why we've plyed our yarn in the same direction that you move your hook - rather than separating as your work, our Z-Twist Whims Merino yarn will maintain ply and firmness. This IMPROVES your stitch defintion, drape, and structure.
