For our first yarn, Whims Merino and its limited edition colorways, we dove deep into the mechanics of crocheting to discover that the ply, or twist, of your yarn affects the way you crochet, the way your stitches are formed, and the way your final projects come out.
Conventional yarns with an "S-Twist" lead to split stitches. Why?
Every time you yarn over, you produce a clockwise motion around the axis of the working yarn. The counterclockwise ply of conventional S-Twist yarns goes under an inverse twist during the YO and that yarn will slowly begin to de-ply (strands separate).
This is why we've plyed our yarn in the same direction that you move your hook - rather than separating as your work, our Z-Twist Whims Merino yarn will maintain ply and firmness. This IMPROVES your stitch defintion, drape, and structure.
At first glance, I noticed the soft sheen and rich color of the yarn, but once I started to work the real magic happened.
The stitch definition is unreal and it works up effortlessly with my Streamline hook. This yarn is the crocheter's dream and is perfect for so many projects!

Each hank of Whims Merino is 196 yards (180m) of 50% Superwash Merino (20 - 20.5 microns) and 50% Nylon and is packaged in a black Furls bag. A light yarn best used with 4mm - 5.5mm hooks, Whims Merino works up into a beautiful, bouyant, and superbly structured texture.
